![]() If my target is up close I keep both eyes open hand gun or long gun.Īnd how bad (Or good) your vision is dictates what you can do. With a shot gun with a bead sight at the end then keeping both eyes open is fine and the people that shoot clays do this all the time.Īnd of course allot of this has to do with what I am shooting and how close my target is. I do not think there is enough ammo for me(Or that I can afford) to practice to get it right with both eyes open. This is for long guns because of the distance between the sights.īut with a hand gun(I just tried it) and the double vision will keep me from getting a good safe shot with out closing my left eye because of how close the sights are to each other. I do this when I use my shotgun with a red dot because you only see the dot with (In my case) with the right eye and that is a good thing so you can see what is coming into your shot line. Now if I am using a red dot with no magnification then keeping both eyes open is fine. When using iron sights you can keep both eyes open but it takes practice to line up your sights because of the "double vision". ![]() ![]() ![]() If I am using a scope that has magnification then you need to close the eye you are not using to get a good sight thru the scope. Answer (1 of 13): a well sighted in red dot or holo would require the gunman to put the reticle on target while having a properly aligned cheek well. ![]()
